Chris Bones

What is your current job title?
I am an associate.

What college did you go to?
I attended George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

How long have you worked at Kernutt Stokes?
I started in September 2016 as a new hire out of college.

What are the greatest benefits of working for Kernutt Stokes?
During busy season they bring in a lot of snacks—I love that because I am not the biggest fan of grocery shopping!

Why did you choose Kernutt Stokes over other firms you may have had in mind?
I chose Kernutt Stokes because I felt really comfortable throughout the recruiting process and I really enjoyed all the people I met. I knew the work was going to be more-or-less the same at every firm, so it really came down to the people and the working environment.

What your favorite activity to do in Eugene?
My favorite activity is definitely going out to all the great breweries and restaurants in the area.

What inspired you to become an accountant?
I have an uncle who is an accountant and it always seemed like such a challenging and respected job. Due to this impression, I took some accounting classes in high school and ended up enjoying them—so I decided to give it a shot in college. Practically speaking, I knew that college would leave me with loans to pay off, so I chose to get a degree that I believed would land me a job right after graduation.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a Goldendoodle named Rosie.

What is your favorite food?
I’m going to go with breakfast foods, like eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I never get tired of them—and breakfast for dinner is great!

What do you enjoy most about living/working in Eugene?
The traffic (or lack thereof)! I worked in Portland while in school and really came to loath the traffic; working in Eugene and encountering little-to-no traffic is wonderful.

Tell me one thing about you that makes you unique – a fun fact about yourself.
I am always trying to think of some wild idea or invention that I can create that will make me a ton of money. I obviously can’t give any examples because I don’t want anyone stealing them, but I can assure you that all of them are ingenious (heavy sarcasm).

What is your favorite book?
It is probably a tie between Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

If you could only have one album on your iPhone (or radio) what would it be?
Brian Regan is my favorite comedian so it would have to be his first CD, made in the 90’s, called Brian Regan: Live.
