What is your current job title?
What college did you go to?
I attended Westminster College, in Fulton, Missouri. (Where Winston Churchill gave his famous Iron Curtain speech!)
How long have you worked at Kernutt Stokes?
I’ve been with the firm for 6 years.
What are the greatest benefits of working for Kernutt Stokes?
Some of my favorite aspects include the variety of projects I get to work on and the continuing education and technology updates that Kernutt offers. Kernutt Stokes also offers opportunities in multiple cities now which is great! I recently moved to the Bend/Redmond area and love it.
Why did you choose Kernutt Stokes over other firms you may have had in mind?
I was applying for jobs in the industry, but not for public accounting positions. However, in an unusual turn of events, I met and ended up spending time talking with Warren Barnes, Kernutt Stokes Managing Partner. As a result of our conversation, I sent in my resume and started working for Kernutt about two weeks later!
What is your favorite activity to do in Bend?
Explore the area and try new restaurants.
What inspired you to become an accountant?
My grandparents owned a flower shop in Chicago for 40 years. I spent many summers there, and I remember helping out in the office—endorsing checks for deposit, using the calculator tape to total the checks, writing out deposit slips, reconciling the cash register, and other accounting-type duties. I think that this, subconsciously, may have been my inspiration. Ever since then, I’ve learned that being an accountant is so much more than calculators and deposit slips—I’ve enjoyed the adventure!
Do you have any pets?
Yes, a 5 year old boxer/husky mix named Nelly.
What is your favorite food?
I love fish tacos and pretty much anything that involves peanut butter & chocolate.
What do you enjoy most about living/working in Bend/Richmond?
I love the mountain views at sunrise, the easy access to outdoor activities year-round such as hiking and snowshoeing.
Tell me one thing about you that makes you unique – a fun fact about yourself.
Growing up, my dad was in the Army, so I lived in Izmir, Turkey for four years (2nd– 5th grades) and Ansbach, Germany for four years (7th – 10th grades).
What is your favorite book?
This is a tough one! I’m an avid reader, going through a book about every two weeks, so there are a lot to choose from! But I think I have to go with All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
If you could only have one album on your iPhone (or radio) what would it be?
Yikes, I couldn’t pick a single album! It would have to be a mixed playlist including Dancing Queen by ABBA, We Close Our Eyes by Oingo Boingo, Summer of ’69 by Bryan Adams, Beautiful Day by U2 and Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode.
