"Well done is better than well said."
- Benjamin Franklin

Following his graduation from University of California, Santa Barbara, Rich began his career in government accounting first with the Defense Contract Audit Agency, and later as an IRS agent. He then moved into public accounting before joining Kernutt Stokes in 1998.

Rich reviews tax returns prepared by the Kernutt Stokes tax department, and is in charge of the firm’s tax preparation software administration. Rich also serves as an instructor for the Kernutt Stokes’ continuing professional education classes. He lectures on various topics including partnership and LLC issues, S-corporation issues, legislative tax updates and college savings strategies.

The constant change and the challenges presented in the field of accounting keep Rich engaged, while developing solutions for a wide variety of clients and businesses provides a sense of fulfillment. Rich enjoys working with new staff; while he provides valuable training and mentorship to them, he knows he learns from them as well.

Rich and his wife Julie live in Eugene. They are empty nesters with two grandchildren and more on the way. Away from the office Rich enjoys playing ice hockey, disc golf, backpacking, wine tasting, and spending time with friends and family.
